Well, it's an old nautical term used by sailors outrunning heavy storms.

In order to wait out the weather, they often took shelter in small, protected nooks and crannies near the shore.  They'd tuck their ships into the "pockets" in the coastline and rest there in peace until the storm passed.

Here at God's Pocket F we believe in the importance of rest, tranquility, and peace

as a balm to the battering storms of daily life.

Beautiful forests sway and whisper all across our 40 scenic acres.  The pond is quiet and restful; the barn stands guard as peacefully as an old friend.  Walk our roads and trails, rest in our sweet green meadows, and feel your soul returning to a place of peace and joy.

OUR STORY

SO WHAT'S A "GOD'S POCKET?"

WHO  WE  ARE

Shannon Bailey is the owner of God's Pocket .

She's lived in the Pacific Northwest for upwards of forty years now, traveling by boat through Alaska and British Columbia, leading guests through bear territory, identifying plants and birds and fungi. She continues to travel around the globe on new adventures  as well as learning daily about the amazing world we're surrounded by here in the San Juan Islands.

She is a marvelous photographer.  Currently her work from Kenya,  Ireland and the Pacific NW  is being shown at Ogle's Fine Art Gallery in Friday Harbor.

Shannon founded God's Pocket as a place where people from all walks of life could experience the joy and beauty of nature.  She's glad you found God's Pocket and is available for any questions, thoughts, or happy moments you'd like to share.

WHAT  WE  DO

We host all kinds of events at God's Pocket, including weddings, bridal showers, and retreats.

Our Barn and Gazebo are available for meetings and celebrations of all kinds.

We also welcome vacationers at the "Nest," a two-story house that can be rented by the day or week.

Guided nature walks are always available.  As an experienced naturalist in the Pacific Northwest, Shannon understands the complicated relationships between fungi and fir trees, tourists and territory, and many other things besides.

One-hour guided tours can be scheduled through the office.  Includes a bonus lesson on slug sex!

And of course Shannon's fine photography, including art from Kenya, Ireland, and (soon) Norway,

is available through our website or at Ogle's, in town.  Be sure and ask Shannon for the stories behind her phenomenal shots!
